Race route for tomorrow.
Race route for tomorrow.
No way I'll (maybe??) make my goal of sub-8. It is a race, and you never know.
Wish me luck!

Finally a sub 8min/mi
3.11 mi - 24:30 / 7:52 pace
Dang, this is hurting. Legs tight, lungs breathing. Is this really any fun?! :-D Of course it is!
The only problem is I am not digging running on the streets all of the time. Both for the hard pavement and secondly for the traffic fumes. Yuck!
Having such a relative hard time at this 5k, made me worried about the 10k race. I think earlier in the morning, cooler, in another week, and in a race setting, I may be able to do it, but it is going to be tough. So quick to try and race after such a long layoff. But that is why I signed up for the 10k...had to have a tough goal!

Looks Like a Semi
3.27 mi - 26:14 / 8:01 pace
This run was like all the rest. nothing special, nothing fast, nothing too painful. Just feelin' the pain as I get back in shape. Not much else to say about it.

Golf at DeBell
2.16 mi - 2 hrs 12 min / 61:00 pace
OK, so this isn't a run, but I wanted to track the golf course to see how much I went side to side on the fairway, watch the elevation changes, etc. I can definitely see the holes by the altitude changes. This was the old front nine, but they swapped them and it is now the back nine. I didn't play the full 18, because I didn't want to wait much longer and then have a long round and get home even that much later.
I actually shot pretty well, 3 pars, 3 bogeys, 2 Double Bogeys (YUCK!) and a birdie, for a 6 over. Gotta like that!

Another Slow One
3.21 mi - 25:51 / 8:02 pace
Well, I'm feeling it. Legs hurt. Wanted to do 4 miles, but I cut it short around 2+ miles, knowing I just needed to get back.
Nothing too bad, just weak from not running. I will definitely be ready for the race, though. Although...8min/mi may not be so pansy after all...we'll see how it goes. I can do the goal, "easily" but probably not by much, unless I really focus.

From work to REI (and Back)
1.01 mi - 7:58 / 7:53 pace
Sub-8, but only one mile on the way to REI. Nothing to get overly excited about.
Back to Work: 2.33 mi - 19:09 / 8:12 pace
So, things here are good. Legs, feet, ankle all feel good. Ankle sore from not wearing running shoes ALL the time, but not like before, just an annoyance. First run last week my shoes were loose, so that was annoying, too, but yesterday the shoes felt great tightened and I had no equipment issues.
Legs are sore, and a bit tight. Breathing isn't too hard really, mostly legs slowing me down. This run was warm. About 80°F. no wind and SUNNY. So, sub-8 for that first mile, but after the break and knowing I'd be running >2 miles back, I took it a bit slower. I was definitely faster than this last week, it must have been sub-8 for the entire 2 miles.
Feels good to run again. Goal is going to be sub-8 for the entire race. Which I think is a pretty easy/pansy goal. I'll likely adjust that as the race gets closer.

Back in Cali - Back to Running
Well, no watch, since so long I forgot it in my side table. So, here is the run, hand mapped in another service.
Dang, this morning, I feel it. Just a short 2.1 miler, but felt faster than that. Using phone it showed 1:06 to 1:24, so 18 minutes ±2 minutes. Felt closer to 17:30...for about 8min/mi pace. Felt like I was going to slow down, but I got happy and started speeding up and finished pretty strong, even though my legs started hurting/feeling it a bit.
60°F, no wind and sunny. Nice to be here in CA, versus the 30 in Denver. ;-) So, I signed up for a 10k race on Superbowl Sunday, Feb 1st. So, that is my motivation to run. After that, hopefully I'll just want to run to run...and, of course, I'll sign up for some more runs to keep me motivated over time.
Good to be back, sore, but feel good for having run.
