Mar 31, 2007 (VEGAS!!!!!)

Yeah, you read that title right, Vegas, Baby!!! I actually woke up Saturday and went for a run. 1 hour long, 7.5 miles! Wow, good job. Tiring, and fast. 7:20 pace for a while, then slowed down...great run! (Lower elevation helped that, maybe?) Motion-Based Link for weather and such.

Pretty good, and maybe what helped me feel good and then have good luck the rest of the day! I made out pretty well!

Ran to I-25, took about 1:02...so, that was about 8:30 pace...it was a bit of a slow recovery day...

Yikes, Windy!!! Weather from Google Homepage: 57°F Cloudy Wind: SW at 26 mph Humidity: 21% Felt amazingly good overall. Question overall pace, due to maybe hitting the stop/start button at one point...may have been a bit longer. I'll look at the data later. Nah, forget the data, easy run, nothing to worry about.

OUCH!!! Ran in my sketchers, since forgot running shoes.

Felt OK overall. Nice day. Ran with heartrate monitor again. Can see by following the link. Liking this watch.

Trying so many sites...ran with Steve T's forerunner 305....I'm hooked and addicted, I need me one of them! I really liked the sanoodi site, but went back to see mapmyrun, and they're running a beta, which works with the forerunner as well...here's the embedded image from them...

Hmpf...so, had to change settings on blog to not do auto spacing...hmmm...could be a pain and the image is visibly chopped, but works...anyway, I'll chat about my training here, but will want to link to the workouts on those other sites and use them for my own training...hmmm...

So, here's the run, as posted on Sanoodi.

And as posted on motion-based.

We'll see how mapmyrun looks overall and see what data it gets/gives from the watch. So far Motion-Based seems to have the most detailed stuff...and most people online, but only 10 runs are free, then it's pay-to-play...yuck! I want free/ad-supported sites. So, it's between sanoodi, and now maybe mapmyrun...

Anyway, about this run, easy/fastish 5K around home. Felt pretty good. I'll write more about more sometime, as I have 5 more runs after this one to list...I'm now in an active training mode.

OK, so, after running these last 5 times, I figured I'd try running with a little pace control...and a little fast. Well, that didn't work out TOO WELL...but, here's what we did. First three links are from Steve's GPS watch.

Cruising out to set the 1/4 mile markers - map/data. Obviously no problem jogging out to the gate.

1st mile at pace - map/data. This started WAY too fast...then slowed a bit, but, sheesh, did a 6:30 pace average, when we were shooting for 7:30. Oops.

2nd mile run - map/data. This was harder. Note the extreme slow down. Back up hill for one, and just plain tiring. Quarters, per my watch, were basically 6:30, 7:20, 7:40, 8:20....so a total of 7:30...so hit final pace, but lacked consistency.

Finished up with a little walk/jog of about 1.88 mi back to office.

So, we did about 5 miles total overall.

Today, after the run, what hurt were y hamstrings. OUCH!! Man, I have't felt my hamstrings like this in a LONG time! So, I guess that's good.

We'll definitely be doing this again, but trying to use his watch to warn us of faster or slower pace... Hard, but fun, and definitely worth it!

Pretty good overall.

El Paso Trail with Scott. About 38 minutes...8:22 pace, maybe. Didn't time it, but know it was about 4.5 miles from the mapping...

Felt pretty good overall. Nice and warm, although I had like three hours of sleep the night before, so I was pretty tired.

OK, the standard 10k loop.

55°F so cool, but nice overall. 50 minutes, 7:54 pace, basically..taken from Steve's watch...steve wore it today.

OK, when mapping this run:

using gmap-pedometer, there was a link to this sanoodi.com site...so I tried it out. Pretty nice. Don't know how it pickes the max/avg pace...but, it's a decent interface. Just needs a return route. Can download what you click in to a google earth file, so I'll try that sometime. Pretty nice. Anyway. I'll try using it a few times.

Anyway, about the run, slow, easy, took a left to keep off more snow, just a shortish 4-miler. Don't really remember the time.

Map of the Run
Welcome back...nice easy run...NOT...ouch. A lot better than when I first started up running again with Steve, though, but being 3 months, I'm definitely back out of shape.

Ran 4.45 miles.

If I remember right it was about 41 minutes. Not a great pace, but, hadn't run for a while, so whatever.

Felt OK, front of legs/ankles hurt after from running through the snow in Cherry Creek reservoir section.
